这个寒假,他们“抢先一步”攒了一张申请作战地图

当很多同龄人还在睡懒觉、刷手机、走亲访友,天行双语特色班升导处联合2027届港大班学生,在寒假开展了线上联合工作坊。

While many peers were still sleeping in, scrolling through phones and visiting relatives during the winter vacation, the College Counseling Office of Teensen academy shcool, together with the 2027 cohort students of the Hong Kong Programme, launched an online joint workshop.

每天40分钟,线上相聚。港大班同学轮番登场,围绕自己心仪的院校和专业展开深度分享:香港科技大学的数据科学、香港大学的金融与资产管理、机械工程、食品与营养科学……每一个题目背后,都是一次主动的探索。

They met online for 40 minutes every day. Students from the Hong Kong Programme took turns to deliver in-depth sharing sessions on their dream universities and majors: Data Science at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Finance and Asset Management, Mechanical Engineering, Food and Nutritional Science at the University of Hong Kong... Behind each topic was a proactive exploration.

01.

一场“翻转课堂”,把话筒交给学生

A Flipped Classroom: Passing the Microphone to Students


“以前是听老师讲,现在是听同学讲。”这是寒假工作坊最直观的变化。

"The difference is striking—we used to listen to teachers, but now we learn from our classmates." That’s the most direct takeaway from the winter vacation workshop.


从搜集信息、梳理内容、写演讲大纲,到当众表达——每一步都在推着他们走出舒适区。有人从社恐变得从容,有人从无从下手到侃侃而谈。正如班主任Summer老师所说:“从接收信息到输出观点,这个过程本身,就是最好的学习。”

Every step, from gathering information, organizing content and drafting speech outlines to public speaking, pushed the students out of their comfort zones. Some overcame social anxiety and grew composed, while others went from being at a loss to speaking eloquently. As head teacher Ms. Summer put it: "The process itself, from receiving information to expressing opinions, is the best learning experience."

Dylan同学分享香港中文大学机械与自动化工程专业


Michael同学从课程设置、估值模型、核心课程的实操细节等方面分享了《香港大学资产管理与私人银行金融》,他甚至提到了“用最新市场数据进行实践操作”,这种专业敏感度,让在场的升导老师都感到意外。

Student Michael shared insights into Asset Management and Private Banking Finance at the University of Hong Kong, covering curriculum design, valuation models and hands-on details of core courses. He even mentioned "practical operations using the latest market data"—a level of professional awareness that surprised the college counseling teachers  present.


但真正让家长和同学觉得“值”的,是之后的点评环节。Todd老师没有泛泛夸奖,而是直接切入申请实战:

But what truly made parents and students feel the workshop was worthwhile was the subsequent comment and feedback session. Teacher Todd did not offer vague praise; instead, he cut straight to the chase of practical college applications:


“这个专业面试权重极高,招生官会深度挖掘你的申请动机。”

"This major attaches extremely high weight to interviews, and admissions officers will dig deep into your application motivation."


“分数要留安全边际。今年经管类录取基本在3A*A左右,往后只会更高。”

"Keep a safety margin for your grades. This year, admissions for economics and management majors generally required 3A*A, and the bar will only be raised higher in the future."


“背景提升要转化为‘我能学、我会做、我想深耕’的具体故事

"Translate your background enhancement experiences into concrete stories that demonstrate 'I can learn, I can do, and I want to delve deep into this field'."


一场点评下来,原本停留在“专业介绍”层面的分享,变成了一张真正的申请作战地图。Michael同学妈妈在会后提到:“Todd老师点评都是点到关键要害。”

After his comments, the sharing that had only stayed at the level of "major introduction" turned into a genuine college application battle plan. Michael’s mother mentioned after the session: "Teacher Todd’s comments hit the nail right on the head every time."

02.

家长同步“上课”,成为“知情支持者”

Parents Attend the "Classes" Too, Becoming Informed Supporters


工作坊期间,不少家长全程在线,认真程度不亚于孩子。

During the workshop, many parents joined the online sessions the entire time, showing as much dedication as their children.


“升导老师假期点评指导真的非常不易,让我们家长也学到很多。”Michael妈妈的感慨道出了活动的另一层价值。

"It’s truly not easy for the college counseling teachers to provide comments and guidance during the vacation, and we parents have also learned a great deal," Michael’s mother said, voicing the additional value of the event.

Evelyn同学妈妈发现:“当孩子讨论‘跨学科课程设计’和‘本科生科研机会’时,我们能精准捕捉其兴趣与倾向,成为他们升学路上的‘知情支持者’。”

Evelyn’s mother found that: "When children discuss 'interdisciplinary curriculum design' and 'undergraduate research opportunities', we can accurately capture their interests and inclinations, and become their informed supporters on the road to further education."

Kevin’s mother added: "Gathering information to learn about universities has given the child a goal to pursue; delivering online presentations has honed their communication skills and accumulated experience for future interviews."

从被动接受到主动探索,从单向输入到多元输出——当孩子们站在镜头前,用自己的语言讲述未来时,他们已经在为大学面试、为人生舞台积蓄力量。

From passive acceptance to proactive exploration, from one-way input to diverse output—when the children stand in front of the camera and talk about their future in their own words, they are already building strength for university interviews and life’s stage.


假刚过,但他们的“超前跑”才刚刚加速。新学期,我们将设计沉浸式升导活动——全方位深度了解院校专业,针对性锤炼面试所需的表达、协作与领导力,让升学规划从规划走向行动。

The winter vacation is over, but their head start in the college application race is only just picking up speed. In the new semester, we will design immersive college counseling activities—helping students gain a comprehensive and in-depth understanding of universities and majors, and tempering the communication, collaboration and leadership skills required for interviews in a targeted way, turning college planning into concrete actions.
